DR. REBECCA CLAASSEN is a Santa Barbara County, California organizer with Food & Water Watch. She earned a Bachelor of Earth Science from Cal Poly, and then earned a degree as a Chiropractor. Growing up in Orcutt with an abandoned, leaking oil well in her back yard, as well as the birth of her daughter, motivated her to leave her career as a Chiropractor to fight unsafe oil development in Santa Barbara County. For this, she’s been awarded the 2014 Cox Conserves Hero Award, the Association for Women in Communication 2016 Lois Phillips Founders Award, and a CA State Assembly certificate of recognition.

DR. J. KEVIN BECKMEN is a California board-certified family physician, practicing in North Santa Barbara County for 18 years.
